Experts also caution that too much disruption to government operations can prevent citizens from accessing public services needed in the event of sustained absence from work due to sickness. The letter does not underestimate the demands placed on the health care system as a result of the virus spreading."Our healthcare system will face severe burdens under all plausible scenarios," experts write. "Hospitals must receive direct funding and adequate resources for enhanced surge capacity in order to handle the front line response."Experts also emphasize the need for "honest, transparent and timely reporting" of developments with the virus. doctor mask |

|Major restructure for newcastle indigenous service provider|
The Northern Territory Government will be looking for funding for more than a new and robust indigenous service provider in relation to Indigenous Affairs and Northern Australia and a comprehensive funding strategy for the Northern Territory indigenous services.
Newcastle's Native Knowledge System will be a key component of the funding for the New Zealand and Queensland indigenous services over the next few years.
This will involve improving funding for the Indigenous Knowledge System, including the use of Australian and NZB funding, as well as strengthening regional support networks and providing more Indigenous persons with financial assistance and training.
The Government will also develop a national education strategy to support Indigenous students and families as they transition into the mainstream of Australia.
This will involve ensuring new Australians are able to obtain a high-quality Australian education, including better access to the English language and university qualifications.
There is much more to the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy, which can be viewed on my dedicated page: The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy (NSITES) website.
There will also be additional funding support for the development and maintenance of an Indigenous-led program of youth employment, the building of Indigenous infrastructure, and support for those who remain in the community but may not be able to find a permanent home.
The funding is expected to be sufficient to cover these and other services provided by the Government.
The Australian Government's plan is to continue to invest in and support Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people with these major changes and additional resources.
Newcastle's Indigenous Services are part of the Government's community-based, service delivery agenda that aims to ensure that every person in the community has access to an equal, high-quality and sustainable opportunity.
Govt urged to stop rising fuel prices and cut subsidies of electricity utilities in order to meet targets and protect farmers, people who cannot afford to buy their energy products and people affected by drought.
The government said that the rise in food prices is being caused mainly by an increase in the price of wheat and rice and is part of a 'global trend'.
A survey conducted by the US Federal Reserve bank revealed that food prices in the US have gone up by 10 percent since 2007. The increase was mainly in rural areas, with prices continuing to soar.

|Bid to extend bendigo sewage system|
Australia's largest sewage project, a $2 billion network of sewers, has a $5.4 billion tender to extend and modernise the Hawke's Bay system for five years.
Water charges are charged on the treatment of sewage under the Hawke's Bay system.
But a state government analysis of water charges for customers will suggest it would cost about $2.6 billion, making the deal an attractive deal for the Victorian government.
The state Department of Water and Electricity said the deal would mean "significant investment in the current capacity of the Hawke's Bay system to treat and discharge drinking water", including a "significant extension".
"The Hawke's Bay system already provides more reliable water and clean drinking water and an extension to the network would not only ensure the system is kept up to date with global developments but it will ensure that this system continues to provide reliable, affordable drinking water for millions of Australians," it said.
It estimates the cost of the contract would be around $1.2 billion.
But the company contracted to supply the government was not happy with its offer.
"The government is currently exploring the best ways of supporting the project, without further delays and without a significant impact to water costs in the short term," the company said.
Opposition health spokesman Andrew Southcott said the deal would not boost water bills.
He said it was "a sad day for water people".
"Not only will this privatised public contract not reduce water bills for Victoria, but it will cost up to $5.4 billion," Mr Southcott said.
WA Premier Colin Barnett also criticised the deal.
"It's a terrible deal for the Victorian people, particularly the small towns and rural communities, and we can only hope the other states get on board," he said.
The Andrews government will continue to use the existing network, and the water and sewerage bill will go up as the new network expands.
Mr Barnett said it was good for the economy as well as residents of the Hawke's Bay region.
"The new network will be capable of handling peak demand for 20 years, which means we will be able to protect the reliability of our drinking water and help the communities in the Hawke's Bay region to manage the impacts of climate change," he said.

Uk tourist killed australian wounded in jordan beach crash
A 27-year-old Australian tourist was seriously injured when he was thrown from a cliff onto the sand-blasted sand at the Jordan beach resort when an accident broke out.
The Australian, who did not want his full name released due to the sensitivity of the situation, was sitting in the sun lounging by a sand-bank when it occurred.
His companion was not injured but could not be found.
"The Australian fell off the cliff and had a serious neck injury, but he is out of danger as they didn't see him move after jumping off the cliff," the statement added.
The sand-polo skydiver, called Kye, was from Perth and had flown with the family from his home in the city.
He was airlifted to hospital for medical treatment and later released. His family said his accident was "pure heartbreak".
Jordan beach, which had hosted the 2013 Winter Olympics, was reopened on Tuesday evening.
Police said they could not say where the other bodies of the victims had been found until further investigation had been completed.
